Crater's of the Moon
Craters of the Moon is a national monument in the mid-section of
Idaho. It is a large lava flow with caves to explore and cinder
cones to climb. At night the sky is so clear, you can watch
satellites and space debris fly by in space. The milkyway is the
brightest thing in the sky when there is a new moon.
Unlikely Fern
I found this fern growing in a deep crevice in the middle
of the lava field. I thought it was amazing that anything
as delicate as a fern could grow in such a harsh environment.
Wasted Tree
The ravages of wind and the heat off the lava have made this
tree all twisted.
Ellen Walking the Flow
The lava flow here is only around 2500 years old. With crevices
and small caverns all over.
