Peace, man.

What, you ask, is the best Christmas / anniversary gift combo gift ever? Babysitting our girls for a week-long vacation in Mexico (pics)!

Since it is snowing outside and I am trying to finish working from home and avoid shoveling, let me instead tell you about the first evening Cpu and I spent in Mexico, La Paz, Baja California Sur!

Epic Fail Update Casserole

|
  • #python IRC users are bitch-asses to activepython users. Who knew. Stupid p4python fails to build under 2.6 and mingw is no help with the p4api libs. Fail.
  • Curtains incomplete. And to think I thought all 5 would be done by thanksgiving. Fail.
  • Left pins in the arm of the armchair. Fail.
  • Still have incomplete blog post re: Erick Wujick's death, all this time. The combo of China, game development, and the slavish devotion I have to ADRPG makes this epic and impossible to complete. Fail.
  • Door trim for Cpu incomplete until day of birthday party. Fail.
  • Kids addicted to TV. Fail.
  • No video game console purchase for the holidays. Fail.
  • Home answering machine still full of messages. F is for full, and also Fail.

Halloween already? Crap.

|
No, I haven't started on my costume. How's yours?

Worse, I haven't started on Bpu's or Cpu's. Ipu is covered - she's going as Toto, and Grandma has already put together and sent out the costume. Memo to self: post cute pictures.

This year we have at least two Halloween-themed events, and trick-or-treat falls on a Friday. I am going to be in so much trouble!

What have I been frittering away all my time doing?

Busy busy.

Today was the day of getting things done, which was actually the theme of the entire week. For example, I finally used my Christmas gift certificate for curtain-making lessons.

Pulling the plug

|
It saddened me a bit today to put in the apache and html redirects for the old homepage. It's finally dead, but also folded into this blog. My last .plan is from Christmas from 2 years ago, so I suppose it's fitting - it's not like I'm keeping it up-to-date.

Lollapalooser Day1

|
I am so old and tired, I left each of the 3 nights of Lollapalooza early. And I totally enjoyed myself each night. Which means I must be too old to rock.

Split work at 3:10 pm. Got water bottles and picked up the Green Line at Clinton. Grossed out by idiot frat boy spitting chew into a cup. Exit Adams and Wabash. Follow other lemmings to Congress Parkway, across from the big gate. Impossible to cross there. Proceed south to Balbo. No lines, make it quickly through gate. Proceed, slightly late, to Black Joe and the Honeybears at the BMI stage.

Hit By a White Crossover Car

|
This Thursday at 6:05 pm CST, while I was crossing Washington Blvd. to get to Ogilvie Metra station, I was hit by a car.

Flagship McDonalds

|
While shopping for furniture in Oak Brook, the family and I stopped at what must be the queen of all McDonalds. A McCafe with McEspressos. An upstairs. Outside seating. Star Trek doors. And we got to play McDicks' Monopoly.

Encased Meats

|
This Saturday, we went to get paint samples and primer from a local paint store near Milwaukee and Addison. It was about 11:15 am when we left, but the fam was hungry.

Originally, we had planned on going to Target and then onwards to Hot Dougs for some fine encased meats and duck fat fries. Well, we switched up, guessing there was going to be a line at HotDougs.

Good move. There was already a line at 11:20 am. Game sausage of the week: Smoked Rattlesnake Sausage with Black Currant Mustard and Vodka Currant Cheese. Too many smackers for a grilled sausage, so Cpu and I opted for splitting Smoked Shrimp and Pork Sausage with Creamy Creole Mustard and Fontina Cheese, and a duck-bacon-blue-cheese one that is no longer listed on the web site. And duck-fat fries. Bpu went for a kid's meal of bagel dogs and tater tots. I had a nice ginger beer and they split an apple juice.

There was a pretty big Cubs pre-game crowd there, and we didn't see any outside dining, but some of our line-mates did disappear somewhere. Good times.

Inspect Her Pipes

|
We had a great inspection of the Deal. Compared to the inspection of my old home, it was very thorough, detailed, and informative. What a joke that dot-com was with regards to informing and alerting the owner.

I feel very aware and informed of all the maintenance and systemic problems. We may even set aside more money from our down-payment to do the work.

Because as it turns out, we need to do extend the terms of the Deal to do further inspection on the 85-year-old plumbing system.

Changed Domain Registrars

|
When I first got my domain, I used enom.com. But years later when prices have gone through the floor for DNS providers, they have not passed that savings on to their customers. Moved toGoDaddy.com today, since there were no compelling reasons to stay.

Hello World

|
Hi there, world.

Thanks for hooking me up with Cpu, safely delivering the babies Bpu and iPu, and giving me a living with the compu.

It's nice that we have this one way dialog, you and I.

Stay dreamy,
xxoo
